MINCETUR AIMS TO ATTRACT MORE AIRLINES TO PERU

ANDINA. Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) said it is encouraging foreign airlines offering services in South America, such as Air China and Turkish Airlines, to also fly to Peru.

Peruvian Deputy Tourism Minister Claudia Cornejo said the main purpose is to talk with those airlines, which already have routes to nearby countries, in order to encourage them to expand their flights to the Andean nation.

"The idea is to start discussing with these airlines, get them interested in this destination and evaluate the profitability," she stated.

Moreover, Cornejo added that the Asian market is not as large as the regional, US and European ones, however, according to figures reported by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the global market that will grow further in coming years is the Asian market.
