Oldest mural relief of Mochica Temple to be showcased in Lambayeque

Ventarron site in Lambayeque

The oldest mural relief of the Mochica temple, built in the Ventarron hill, in the district of Pomalca, Lambayeque, located in north Peru will be presented this month to public opinion, the director of the archaeological project, Ignacio Alva, announced.

Said discovery shows different images of an animal related to fishes and would have a similar antiquity to the relief of the folded hands of the Kotosh temple, in Huanuco, which holds 2,300 years old. Alva noted that the relief of Ventarron was discovered in December 2011. "It would be the first image in the temple and the oldest one," he said in statements to Andina. In turn, the director explained that it is not a mural picture, and added that the conservation process and access preparation are being implemented.
